FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who organises the rides?
A. The rides are organised and run by Sustrans volunteers around Edinburgh. Sustrans is a charity making it easier for people to walk and cycle.

Q. Is this a club?
A. No. This is an open cycling group. We welcome all and there is no registration or obligation to attend.

Q. How do I sign up?
A. Although this is not a club, to assist us in organising our rides we ask that you sign up to each event through our Eventbrite page (linked in the ride description).

Q. When do you meet?
A. We hold one ride per month, usually on the third Saturday.

Q. How long are the rides?
A. Our rides are no longer than 10 miles, usually shorter than this. Terrain and distance are always considered when designing our routes so that our rides remain accessible to all.

Q. What sort of bicycle do I need?
A. Any bicycle! All you need is a bicycle that works, whether that be a mountain bike, a Dutch bike, or even a recumbent! If you think that your bicycle might need a little love, you can have a look at our Maintenance Tips page, or attend a free workshop such as the Wee Spoke Hub.

Q. What do I need to bring?
A. As a minimum we recommend that you bring some water, snacks, and a warm top or waterproof just in case.

Q. Can my child attend without me?
A. No. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate unaccompanied minors, all children must be with an adult.
