Sunday 12th May - Middle Meadow Walk to Dr Neil's Garden

Overview:
Join us this May for a ride and treasure hunt from Middle Meadow Walk to Dr Neil's Garden in Duddingston and back. The ride will take us along cycle paths of the National Cycle Network and some quiet roads, through Holyrood Park (which is closed to traffic on Sundays) and finally to Dr Neil's Garden. Here we will stop for around an hour to explore the gardens and have a coffee at the Garden Cafe, after which we will return to the Meadows along the same route. There will be a treasure hunt quiz for children to complete en route, and our friends at Bike Curious will be bringing some of their specialist family bikes along for people to try!

Timings:
12:00 – 15:00 (approximately 3 hours with stops)

Distance:
4 miles / 6.5 km

Suitability:
This ride is suitable for riders of all abilities.

Details:
The group will meet at the junction of Middle Meadow Walk at 12pm where there will be the opportunity to try out some of the amazing specialist family bikes from Bike Curious. We aim to set off by 12.30pm. From here we will cycle east along NCR-1 to the edge of the park. From here we will continue along the route of NCR-1 following shared-use paths and quiet streets winding our way towards St Leonard's. At the end of East Parkside, at the entrance to Holyrood Park, the group will dismount and walk along the pavement and around the roundabout, rejoining the road at Duddingston Low Road. This road is closed to traffic on Sundays and so we will cycle along this until the car park at the start of Duddingston Village where we will dismount and lock up our bikes. It is then just a short walk to Dr Neil's Garden where we can have a coffee and a break. We should arrive at the garden just before 1pm and will stop here for around an hour before returning to Middle Meadow Walk along the same route for 3pm.
