EFR Returns for 2019

Edinburgh Family Rides are back and raring to go for 2019!

The short, dark days of winter are slowly giving way to spring, and as the temperatures creep back up we are itching to get back out on our bikes.

We are delighted to announce that we have eight rides already planned for 2019, with more in the pipeline, starting with our first ride in March from Murrayburn Primary to the Water of Leith Visitor Centre as part of the build up to this year’s Big Pedal by Sustrans!

Other rides will include trips to Duddingston Loch, Bridgend Farmhouse, Portobello Beach, and The Yard adventure playground along with BBQs, beach volleyball and other fun activities. We will release a calendar for the year’s events soon, and details of the individual rides closer to the time.

In other news, this year EFR will be joining forces with two other Edinburgh based cycling groups - Fun Family Cycles and Play Together on Pedals.

Fun Family Cycles are informal family rides that have taken place annually, in and around Leith, over the last three years, organised by Charlotte Irelan-Bunting. We are very excited to be working together this year for our June ride from Leith to Portobello as part of the 2019 Edinburgh Festival of Cycling. This ride is one not to miss!

Play Together on Pedals is a project which aims to encourage more families to ride together by showcasing and offering the chance to test ride a host of different pedal powered vehicles. They will be coming along to several of our rides throughout the year, offering families the chance to try out some of these exciting alternatives to traditional biking, from child bike trailers, to cargo bikes and e-bikes.

2019 promises to be a busy and fun-packed year. We hope to see you along at some of these rides soon!
